From our founder:

27 years ago I was bitten by the ‘theatre bug’ and have not looked back since. Working on over 60 productions across Fargo-Moorhead in the past ten years, I have seen the growth of the theatre scene in our community first hand. Out of a passion for theatre, and a love for seeing the growth of people as they participate in the arts, I am excited to launch BRUSVEN THEATRICAL.

It is our mission to ignite imagination, cultivate creativity, and enrich education through theatrical experiences. One of our core objectives for BRUSVEN THEATRICAL is to bring Fargo-Moorhead’s first year-round Children’s Theatre to life. We will provide opportunities for youth and families to immerse themselves in theatre education and performances as well as opportunities for year-round, family friendly productions.

We believe deeply in the power theatricality plays in life. While our main objective is to program year-round Children’s Theatre, we will also launch new events, programs, services and resources that add a little more theatricality to the region.

Yours in the Arts

Musical Theatre Intensive

5th-12th grade students
July 10 – 28th – Monday – Thursday 9:00-4:00

The Brusven Theatrical Musical Theatre Intensive is designed to take students of all abilities to the next level of musical theatre performance. With the mentality of being ‘Better Than Your Show’ this program will take every student deeper in their understanding of performing musical theatre. For three weeks – four days a week – we will dig deep, work hard, and mine the best out of each student in the program. The program will end with a performance showcase of dances and songs learned during the intensive.

Dance – Every day, students will spend 3 hours in dance training and choreography work. We will start each day with a physical workout and training program to get each performer in the physical shape necessary for the competitive theatre world. Dance classes will focus on dance for musical theatre and then we will put those skills to use on the stage with choreography to create dance combinations.

Musical Performance & Acting – Each day, students will work on group and solo numbers. Actors will work through the text, perform monologues and scenes, and get one on one coaching on their musical numbers and auditions. Each student will also get the opportunity to work on audition selections and put together a vocal book. Mock auditions will be held at the beginning and the end of the program to track growth.

Special Guests – We will be hosting many guest artists to work with our students, giving them multiple ears and eyes on their performances. Each guest brings a special insight and knowledge to share. Guests will range from improv technique, to voice and breathing workshops, yoga for actors, and performance technique and feedback session.

Broadway Dance Masterclass – We are excited to be working with our friends at the Open Jar Institute to bring in a guest Broadway Performer and Dancer two work with our students the last week of the program. They will teach Broadway choreography and which will be performed at our showcase performance. We are currently locking down the dates with our guest and will unveil who it is soon.

Showcase Performances – As we conclude our three week Musical Theatre Initiative we will stage a showcase performance for three evenings allowing the community to see the work of our students.
